What Is The Recovery Period Post A Hip Replacement Surgery?

default
Posted on Tue, 12 Jul 2016
Question: I have not done enough research to decide whether I want to go forward with a total hip replacement, but I had X-rays last week and an orthopedic specialist said it is inevitable. I am 65 years old and work full-time in a rubber factory as a machine operator - 8 hours of standing and lifting heavy boxes of rubber. I do OK on flat surfaces, but steps are impossible. How long until I could be able to return to work? My Ortho specialist said I would need to go to a rehab facility for approximately 4 days to one week, then I should be able to function OK on my own at home. I live alone and there is no one available to help me at my apartment.

Brief Answer:
You will need one week for walking normally

Detailed Answer:
Hello, I have studied your case. Hip replacement will need minimum one week and may need 2 weeks for walking. You may need Walker for some weeks also. But once you pass this phase then you will be completely free of pain. So I would suggest you to go ahead with this.
Thanks
