Posted on Tue, 6 Sep 2016
Question: Hi Dr Misra, This follows my question to you few days back. I got Uveitis and have been on durezol eye drops 4 times a day for 11 days. My eye is alot better now pretty close to normal I feel. Should I reduce the number of drops per day? How many? My doctor has given total treatment of 6 weeks. Should that be reduced too in addition to reducing number of drops per day. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Taper off steroids

Detailed Answer:
My dear,
Thanks for getting back to me.
Use one drop 4times a day for 5days.
3times a day for 5 days
2times a day
one drop once a day
Thereby you can stoop drops after 20 days.
Since you are getting ok now,use of drops will expose you to local steroids for a longer period of time.there by increasing the risk of complication of drops
That is my view as opposed to many of my contemporary experts, who like to stick to a 6week protocol, but I have my own reason for this.
Do get back to me in case of any further query in this regard.
