Hi,

There are many causes. It is easier to say with a photo. But potential diagnoses are fungal infection, herpes, vitamin deficiency, Crohn's disease.

i have pain on my left side and sometimes my lower right flank. a CT scan revealed thickening of the mucus lining. my bms feel incomplete and im bloated.

Was told I was slightly anemic and had low iron.

1. Mural thickening identified involving the mid segment of the
sigmoid colon suggesting colitis either infective or inflammatory.
Malignant infiltration felt less likely in this young patient
especially given the normal appearance on the recent scan.

Brief Answer:
I recommend endoscopy for further evaluation

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I'd recommend you have an upper and lower endoscopy. Could you please let me know where the "thickening of the mucous lining" was located? Which part did the CT-scan report specify?

Regards

Brief Answer:
It sounds perfectly benign

Detailed Answer:
Hi again,

The appearance on CT indicates inflammation, I.e. diverticulitis or inflammatory bowel disease. Acute gastroenteritis is also possible. Stool sample and a colonoscopy will diagnose it.
