What Does This Finding Mean For Me And Can It
Question: What does this finding mean for me and can it be reversed? Liver is normal in size measuring 12.8 cm in length and is mildly heterogeneous could represent fatty change. NO focal mass lesion seen. NO gallstones or ductal dilation seen. No hyrdonephrosis. Atherosclerotic chnages were noted in the abdominal aorta without evidence of aneurysmal dilation
What are your suggestions for this issue and can fatty liver be reversed at this stage? DO you agree that I should talk to a hepatolgist?
Also, spleen, pancreas, kidneys, gallbladder and IVC are all normal in the ULTRASOUND scan
Brief Answer:
Age related/ Statin induced change. No significance in your case.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for choosing "Ask a Doctor" service for your query,
Mild fatty liver is a common finding after 35 years of age so considering your age sir mild fatty liver has no significance. However yes it could be fully reversed.Take a good anti oxidant (liver rejenuvator) like sylimarin( milk of thistle) for few months.Mild fatty liver may be a mild side effect of lipitor(Statins) or may be a result of dyslipidemia.
Overall control of lipid profile plus healthy eating habits plus milk of thistle would revert back the mild changes( however as age increases mild changes are common so I personally don't think that the finding is significant in your case).
Diet recommend-
Simple home cooked food with 50% complex carbohydrates 30% proteins and 20% good fats.
Along with it take plenty of salad and colored fruits.
Hope I was helpful,
Thank you!
