Question: Bone biopsy. What does paucicellular marrow fibrosis mean? Said no neoplasm seen, no blasts. Suspected osteomylitis vs chronic inflammation in 6 yr old. Wbc low..everything else normal.
With a paucicellular biopsy could they miss leukemia?

Brief Answer:
Hello dear. It means cell deficient marrow

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear. I have gone through the details. So a paucicellular marrow means the marrow precursors cells are few in number and fibrosis is a sequele to some infection or unknown causes. A cancer cannot be missed after a marrow examination. So please do not worry.
Thanks and regards

What could cause chronic bone inflammation with a pathological fx if it isn't cancer and possibly not osteomylitis with a low wbc ....
