Question: Hello doctor,

In my family a new born baby girl reported 2.5 mm hole issue in the heart. The Echo report is enclosed herewith for your ready reference.
Thought doctor suggested to recheck her after 1and half month. But I have some questions in my mind please help to answer the same.
1) Is baby crying is good or bad her heart?
2) What are the common things we should take care about?

Brief Answer:
Chances of closure are high

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HealthcareMagic. Can understand your concerns.

I have seen the echo report that you have attached. It's a small muscular vsd. There is 80 percent chance of closure of muscular vsd in comparison to membranous vsd. 30 to 50 percent spontaneous closure occurs during 2 years of age. Repeat echo will help in tracking the closure of vsd.

There is no relation of crying to vsd.

Precautions are to prevent child from infection. Proper hygiene should be maintained. Any symptoms of fever or cough should be assessed by doctor as soon as possible. Infection can result in delayed closure or symptoms of congestive heart failure.

I hope this will help you.
Wishing your child good health.
Take care.
