What Does The Presence Of Blood In Saliva Indicate?

default
Posted on Thu, 30 Apr 2015
Question: I have blood in my saliva when I spit it out I can see bright red blood. been happening for a week now. Im not coughing, no pain in my chest no shortness of breath. My throat doesn't hurt. just when I spit I see traces of blood it goes away then comes back should I be concerned? Usually there's more blood when I dry heave. I used to dry heave a lot but never spit out blood after. just started doing so last week is it from my acid reflex? Did I tear something inside my digestive tracks?

Brief Answer:
Needs Management, likely XXXXXXX weiss tear

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. With history of Dry heave also called bulimia and acid reflux this blood in sputum could be explained by a XXXXXXX weiss tear , a tear in lower esophagus due to excessive retching or trying to throw up.

Just get a doctor and let them run some labs on your saliva and do some work up like sputum assessment, chest radiographs, baseline work up like full blood count and urine routine exam and you will have an answer.

i would strongly suggest avoiding this dry heaving and prompt control your acid reflux before it is too late. You should be concerned a little as this slight few drops of blood could turn into big blood in vomit episodes if this retching and dry heaving persisted.

I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.
