Hi,

I went through the attached report. He has low hemoglobin value along with low hematocrit, MCV and MCHC - features of microcytic anemia. He also has positive widal titre - feature of typhoid.

However before we come to any conclusion, I would like to know why this test was ordered. What symptoms did this patient have?

Looking forwards to your reply...

Brief Answer:
double infection....

Detailed Answer:
The reports you uploaded reveals positive results for both dengue as well as typhoid. I hope all other tests including malaria, urine infection and others are performed as well.

At this time, hospitalisation is a good choice. He should be treated with antibiotics to cover typhoid infection along with iv fluid therapy and medications to treat fever. During treatment, his platelet count as well as hematocrit should be monitored.

Hope this helps.

Brief Answer:
Misinterpretation...

Detailed Answer:
Hi, I am sorry that was an error. I was reviewing another patient who had dengue with typhoid. In your case, I did not find dengue report. But it would be wise to test for dengue also - dengue IGM as well as Dengue NS1 antigen test and rule this out.

I hope its clear now.
