What Does My MRI Scan Report Indicate?
Question: Hello Doc,
Hope you remember our previous discussion regarding headache and numbness at one side anf brain mri with white spots observed. As per your suggestion i have started talking vit B complex. Now my question is as i mentioned already my treating doc prescribed me antidepressant amitriptiline 30mg. I have started this medicine from 3 weeks. Intially nothing happend but from past one week I am feeling dry mouth and throat . I feel very dry and feel like drinking water again and again so is it due to medicine ? if yes do you want me to still continue tablet or you want me to stop it ?

Don't worry, I remember all of our previous conversation about your concerns.
Regarding to dry mouth and Amytriptiline use, it is the most common side effect of its use.
Amytriptiline is an antidepressant drug used some times to treat nerve pain too (antineuralgic).
Before deciding to discontinue it, is necessary to clarify that Amytriptiline use improved your symptoms (nerve pain) or not?
If no improvement, you should stop it ( but not suddenly, there is need for tapering ), if there was improvement, then I suggest to use half dose (15 mg) for one week and to see the effects.

Hello Doc , Not significant but can say i can see some improvement in my headache i.e numbness is not always now i can see once in 2 days or even longer after starting tablet. and regarding pain also i can defnatly some improvement happend.

Thank yoy doctor I will try half dose for week. and this is great such a quick reply and its very much helpful when we stay in germany as it takes weeks to get appointment with doctor to ask these things Thanks to HCM.
