What Does A Slightly Red Mark On The Chest Area Indicate?
Question: Hello
I have a slightly raised red mark on my chest near the crook of my neck
I have had it at least a year
Its not changed in size but colour has darkened slightly
It is not itchy and it does not hurt unless i keep poking and prodding at it
When you tighten the skin around it, it fades but seems to still have a small dark bit thats visable
Do you have any ideas what it is?

I am Dr Asmeet Kaur Sawhney, a dermatologist.
I have reviewed the attached photograph and it seems to be hypertrophic scar.
It is a fibrotic reaction of the skin which usually occurs following some minor injury or infection which can go even unnoticed.
It is something not very serious.
It is usually treated with intralesional steroid injections or cryotherapy.
