Question: My husband age 78, Parkinson's/Dementia has developed strange red little "scribbles" on his both lower
legs...a neighbor and retired ER nurse thought it may be pedpciae (?) a symptom of something else going on
...does not itch or hurt..looks like someone took a red pen and made funny lines from ankle up both knees..
what would this be a symptom of?

Brief Answer:
Harmless skin lesions,need not worry

Detailed Answer:
Hi

The kind of skin lesions you have described occur in a skin condition called pigmented purpurin dermatosis .
Basically in this condition , patient develops small reddish , bluish or brown dots which may coalesce to form various patterns . The lesions tend to start at ankles and usually does not extend above the knees.
Now it is important for you to know that these are harmless skin lesions and usually are not associated with any discomfort .
They are basically a cosmetic skin problem . It just occurs in certain pre disposed people in which red blood cells tend to move out of blood vessels and stain the skin brownish .
So you need not worry since they do not suggest any serious body problems.
They can be left as such or you can apply some moisturisers over them of there is any associated discomfort .
