Brief Answer:
Further evaluation needed.

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

Sex related headaches lasting 24 hours or more need to be evaluated further for any underlying causes.

There are some other aspects of your symptoms that need clarification such:

- When did you first have the headache?
- Were there any other symptoms such nausea, vomiting, blurred vision?
- Have your headaches been continuous or are there been off periods?
- What if anything makes your headaches better or worse?

In my opinion, you should consult a Neurologist and discuss about evaluation/exclusion of any underlying causes related to brain vessels such aneurysm, vascular malformation.

An imaging brain study is needed as well to correctly evaluate your concerns, in my opinion a brain MRI.

In conclusion, I'm not saying you have any brain serious condition, but at your age, there is need for correct evaluation/exclusion of these possibilities.

If no such suspected underlying causes, those headaches are not a matter of concern, they usually disappear for periods of time.

Hope this helps. I remain at your disposal for further questions or clarifications.

Best regards.

Thank you for the reply. Here are the clarifications:

- When did you first have the headache? - it was about 10 days ago, had 3 episodes in the same week since then.
- Were there any other symptoms such nausea, vomiting, blurred vision? - there were no other symptoms, only headache
- Have your headaches been continuous or are there been off periods? - it was continuous, it used to get a little better (mild) with pain-killers and come back again
- What if anything makes your headaches better or worse? - painkillers helped to some extent

If there are no major causes that you mentioned above such as aneurysm, vascular malformation what else can be the other possible causes for these headaches and how would the headaches disappear. Also, should I abstain from any sexual activities for a while?

Brief Answer:
You don't have to abstain sexual activity.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back and thanks for the clarifications.

If no underlying causes of sexual activity related headaches assessed by imaging too, then headaches are primary ones related to sudden increase of intracranial pressure, or may be related to a migraine-like condition.

They disappear with time and can be treated by antiinflamatory drugs.

You don't have to abstain sexual activity, one thing you can do is to take an antiinflamatory (Indometacin 25 mg) or Sumatriptan ( anti migraine) one hour before sexual activity. ( if you aren't allergic to one of these drugs)

My opinion is still in favor to brain imaging ( MRI) to be done.

Hope I helped you. If you don't have further clarifications, you may close the conversation and rate the answer.

Wishing you good health.
