Question: I have had surgery for colorectal cancer. I am on Xeloda and at present having radiotherapy to the surgical area. I have had three courses of Xeloda and 2 weeks of radiotherapy. I have just noticed some brownish spots (x 2) on my vagina. I am extremely worried about these spots. Could it be a side effect of the radiotherapy or Xeloda.

Brief Answer:
Apply hydroquinone gel

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Xeloda can cause hyperpigmentation in the skin in the vagina causing these brownish spots on it as its side effect

I would advise you to apply topical bleaching agents such as hydroquinone gel in the area locally which can decrease melanin production and assist in clearing of areas of pigmentation and cause the brownish spots in your vagina to dissaper
