What Could Cause Traces Of Protein In Urine According To An AimStrip 10-SG Urine Strip?

Question: I'm a 43 year old white male, 5 ft 8 inches and 190 lbs.
I checked my urine at home this morning with an aimstrip 10 sg that my wife had. I took it first thing in the morning. It showed a trace (0.15)amount of protein. My Specific gravity was also 1.030(high).
afterward i drank some water and a cup of coffee and headed out for the day a bit concerned. I checked it again 3 hours later and it showed totally negative.
Is this normal?
I had a complete blood workup done within the last year and everything was normal(creatine, BUN, etc...).
I have disk injuries so i always have back pain.
I also have some health anxiety so i get concerned easy.

Brief Answer:
Nothing to worry.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

The specific gravity urine normally goes from 1010-1030, if it is higher that means that you are a bit dehydrated and you need to drink more water to turn it to normality. Normally a grown up should drink 1.5 to 2 liters water minimum per day.

Regarding the protein concentration in the urine, sometimes there is a false result in this AimStrip. The laboratory exams are more trustworthy.

Anyway remember that 0-80 mg values of protein in a 24 hours urine are considered normal.

I do not think that you have anything to worry about. I would suggest healthier diet, some sport and relaxation. You seem to be total healthy.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thank you.

I tested two more times later today and it was negative . My urine had color too(it wasn’t clear) so it wasn’t watered down, if that matters.

Brief Answer:
Related to food or to less amount of drinking water

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

I do not see anything to worry about. Regarding the color of the urine, this varies sometimes from different foods we eat or from the quantity of water we drink. More water we drink, more frequently we will urinate and lighter the color will be.

As I suggested earlier, just try to drink around 2 liters of water per day. Not to worry.

Hope I have answered your query.

Thank you.
