What Could Cause Frequent Urination For Close To A Month?

Question: I am a 43yr old British White Male in generally good health. There is no family history of any specific cancers.

It started 3 weeks ago when all of a sudden i needed to pee a lot, i visited my GP who took a sample and did a dip stick test both negative). A week later with the symptoms not getting any better i returned to my gp who carried out another urine sample and this time traces of blood appeared (not visible). They sent another sample off to get tested and again came back negative, they also gave me medication for a suspected uti (nothing changed). In the meantime i visited my sexual health clinic where again found no infection (blood still in urine - not visible). Urine was retested last Wednesday (still blood in urine .. not visible). The Dr has now referred me to a Urologist.

I am starting to worry that its more sinister and would like some advice from an expert. I am fully aware that cancer is unlikely due to me being early 40s however its at the forefront of my mind. What would be your opinion?

Brief Answer:
Upload few of your urine reports

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Based on the facts that you have posted you r routine urine tests carried out over a short period of time have detected microscopic hematuria (Trace of RBC in urine).

I shall be happy if you can post more details to help me in making precise comments:
1) Upload few of your urine tests reports
2) Are you a diabetic?
3) Do you have any urinary symptoms like frequency, burning etc?
4) did you have pain in abdomen ?
5) Are you taking any blood thinner medications like Aspirin or Clopidogrel?

It is normal to have few RBC in urine even in normal individual .It is the number of RBC detected on microscopic examination that has some pathological significance which can occur due to infection in urinary tract and Glomerular disease which needs to get investigated.

I would suggest you to consult qualified Nephrologist for clinical assessment and further blood tests to establish diagnosis.

Do not worry in view of few RBC in urine it can not be a cancer at all.

Hope I have answered your query. Please feel free to ask if you have more questions, I shall be happy to help you.

Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Needs further tests

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

It is difficult to make precise comments based only on single complaint of frequent urination without having any urine report issued by a laboratory.

It could be considered to be normal unless proved otherwise by positive abnormal findings detected on various relevant tests like Ultrasound Scanning of the abdomen, Kidney function tests, presence of protein in urine (Proteinuria, presence of dysmorphic), red blood cells in urine etc.

Consult a Nephrologist for evaluation and get these tests done under his guidance.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
