What Causes Vaginal Odour Before And After Menusration?

Question: I'm 36 year old black female.. For the past few months I have noticed urine smell in my underwear when I go to the bathroom at times mostly after or before my cycle.. Somethin it has a strong ammonia smell. I don't know that I am wetting my underwear until I go to the bathroom.. Thanks for any help

Thanks for your query,based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have noticed leakage of urine without your knowledge.

I shall be happy if you can post me few more details to help me in making comments on your problem.
1) Do you have any other Urinary symptoms like burning urination ,urgency for urination,frequency of urination.?

Leakage of urine without any knowledge is mostly due to stress Incontinence of urine This is secondary to weakness of pelvic floor muscles and urethral sphincter where urine leaks out whenever there is increased intra abdominal pressure like sneezing ,coughing etc.

Please consult qualified Urologist for clinical examination .You may need to get endoscopic examination (Cystoscopy) with Bone's test done to confirm the diagnosis.

Get routine urine tests done to rule out UTI.

Further treatment will be decided by him depending upon the Cystoscopic findings .

Doing Kegel exercises will help to strengthen pelvic floor muscles and to relieve your symptoms.
