What Causes Twitching In Index And Ring Fingers?

default
Posted on Mon, 16 Feb 2015
Question: I am having twitching in my index and ring finger for about two weeks. The twitching is not constant and happens the worst when i try to squeeze my hand tightly. Its worth mentioning i recently started a new job where i am using a mouse and computer for up to 8 hours a day 5 days a week. Occasionally tingling on the side of the index finger happens with the twitching. I bought a carpal tunnel brace and have been wearing it for 3 days but still no relief from the twitchig. Please help! Im also nervous about a neurological disease like ALS or parkinsons.

Brief Answer:
Not ALS or Parkinson

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for the query

If you have just twitching of the fingers then rest assured it is not ALS or parkinson. Most often twitching are benign, known as benign fasciculation syndrome. However to be sure I would want you to get these tests done

1. Thyroid profile. Hypothyroidism can cause twitching
2. calcium levels.
3. Vit b12 levels
4. Ct brain with spine screening

I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me

Regards
