What Causes Tingling In Fingertips, Forearms And Left Buttock With Partial Numbness?

default
Posted on Mon, 3 Oct 2016
Question: Hello and thank you! In the past 4 to 6 weeks I have been having pain in all the joints of my body, especially my hands, fingers and wrists. I have always been flexible, but lately I cannot bend my fingers back past a straight up and down position, nor can my wrists bend (flex) downward as they once did. I'm experiencing tingling (pins/needles sensation and partial numbness) in my fingertips and up my forearms. This came on suddenly but I did fall down on my left buttock (backing up from a wasp coming toward me) in my work parking lot, but I didn't give it much thought. I was just grateful I didn't break anything! I'm 56 years old. I have 12 stents in my heart (Coronary Artery Disease, genetic), Type II Diabetic (mild symptoms, not real high blood sugar), and also take medication for depression (along with heart meds and diabetic meds and a thyroid pill). I feel as though all of a sudden I am "falling apart". I would be happy to provide more information if you need it (medications, etc.) but I don't want to overwhelm you with a long dissertation. I have NOT called my family doctor or my cardiologist at this point. This joint pain has caught me by XXXXXXX and I'm just not sure if I should go in and "complain" to just wait and see if it goes away on its own. Thank you so much! XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Blood test with family doc advisable

Detailed Answer:
Dear Patient,

If someone with your symptoms would come to my Office i would recommend a blood test for inflammation and possibly rheumatological diseases. Also an examination of the joints is advisable to determine weather this is arthrosis or possibly a Manifestation of rheumatoid Arthritis.

So i do recommend you contact your Family doc about this first, since this is less likely to resolve on its own.

Best regards
