What Causes Tingling Feeling In Right Arm And Numbness In Tongue?

default
Posted on Wed, 15 Apr 2015
Question: I have been having tingling (pins and needles), right arm. A day or so ago my arm went briefly numb and my thumb had a particularly odd numbness. A bit ago my tongue tingled and felt a bit numb. I am a retired R.N. and wondered if I am having a CVA. Of note, I have spondylolisthesis with a great degree of misalignment at L4-L5.

Brief Answer:
Diabetes neuropathy is probablity.

Detailed Answer:

Hi
Thanks for your query

I'm Dr Sudhir Kumar

I have gone through your query and understand your concern. As you are diabetic I consider your 1st possiblity to be diabetic neuropathy as a cause of your numbness of arm , thumb and tongue. Mecobalamine is helpful in resolving it. Control of Diabetes is important. You are less likely to having CVA. You can think of CVA if you have difficulty in speaking (altered speech), and weakness and numbness of one side of arm and leg( say right arm and right leg). It can be confirmed by MRI of brain . Spondylolisthesis is not related to it.

You can discuss with your doctor about it.

Hope your query get answered. If you have any clarification then I will be happy to help you.

Wishing you a good health.
Take care.
