Brief Answer:
Age related changes

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to healthcare magic.

I understand from your query that you are concerned about swellings below your lower lip.

I have seen the clinical pictures that you have attached.

As you have rightly said, they are indeed pockets of fat, which undergo redistribution due to age-related process and form what is called as " Jowls".

With age, the connective tissue support of the skin and the fat underneath the skin become thinned out. This leads to the hollow, sunken appearance of ares such as the under eye area, the cheeks and the sides of the nose. This is called as volume loss. I see in your picture that your mid-face has considerable volume loss. The fat in some people redistributes and under the influence of gravity, falls down to areas around the chin to forms sagging skin and jowls.

The treatment, therefore will not be remove this fat, but to add to the volume in areas where it is lost. This will restore the support of the entire face and thereby "lift" the mid portion of the face, which in turn lifts the chin as well, restoring the uniform fat distribution.

The treatment options for you would be "dermal fillers" and thread lifts.

Dermal fillers are made up of hyaluronic acid, a component of the normal connective tissue of the skin. This is injected into the areas where there is volume loss - in your case, the cheeks and the nasolabial folds. ( These are the lines which hang from the nose towards the chin). Fillers will restore the volume in your mid face and will give the necessary support to lift your midface. This will therefore make your face appear more fuller and uniform.

This could be combined with a " thread lift procedure". In this procedure, sterile threads are inserted into the dermis of the skin using a needle in such a way that it lifts the skin against gravity. This will " pull up" the loose, sagging skin near your lips and make your face attain a good, natural shape.

Hope this helps you.

If you have any more queries, I will be glad to assist.

Wishing you good health,
