Posted on Mon, 6 Jun 2016
Question: I have unusual swelling in my feet, ankles and calves. There is a red rough rash associated with it. It burns and is really swollen to the point of when I flex my ankle it will shut off the circulation to my feet. I saw a Dr. at the VA about a week ago for a mild rash and was given a cream to apply. The swelling has happened over the last 2 days. I this life threatening and should I seek immediate help. I am a long haul truck driver and not near a Dr. office or hospital

Brief Answer:
This could be deep venous thrombosis.

Detailed Answer:
Dear Sir,

Thank you for posting your query on HCM.

Well looking into your problem I would like to tell you that , since swelling along with redness are coming , there is a strong possibility of DVT . I think you should see a doctor immediately for this . Although by just symptoms it will be difficult to make a diagnois but still this possibility is very high .

Take care.

Dr. Shruti
