What Causes Sudden Weight Gain While On Ultram?

default
Posted on Mon, 22 Aug 2016
Question: I am a 48 year old woman with some chronic health issues. In the past couple years, I've also gained weight, which has been tough. I am happily married for 2 years, on our honeymoon, I learned my husband took a pill as he felt the sexual experience could be better for him, he was less attracted to me. While that is devastating, I know he's worked on it as have I.
The problem is, since our honeymoon, I can not achieve orgasm. There is not a loss of interest, lubrication, I just can't get to that level when u know you're on the way.
It was a rough year. He is bipolar and an alcoholic. I've only known him sober until last year. He's a nasty drunk and other addictions come out. Gambling and risky, paid sex. I looked at his computer one day,ms aw that on his last trip (work) he'd searched escorts. I kicked him out.
(This really does have a point, I promise!!) after about a year, I said get help or get out. He didn't actually meet up with any women and he is a wonderful, loving, mountain man sober who I love very much much. We went to some couples therapy and I know he's done some work around feeling attracted to me while I battle the weight.
In other words, I don't believe is psychological. I was taking ultram daily and looked up side effects. No orgasm!! Took a while, I weaned off. It's also hard because of my illness he won't initiate sex, not wanting to pressure. I use seroquil for sleep and looked that up but reviews seems much less.
Bottom line: we have worked through a difficult and tumultuous year. I'm not unsure about him, I'm very much attracted to him. Sex is already rare because he travels and my illness can b a freight train. Could other meds cause this? I know one can point to a lack or trust, but I don't feel that's relevant. My body responds but it's like there a line I just don't make it past,

Sorry this is long!!!!

Brief Answer:
evaluation for anorgasmia is needed

Detailed Answer:
Hello Lady,

Thanks for writing to us. I can understand your concern.

You are suffering from anorgasmia. Thanks for detail history.

There are many causes of anorgasmia:
Physical causes: medical diseases ( diabetes and neurological diseases), gynecologic issues, medications ( blood pressure medications, antihistamines and antidepressants), alcohol and smoking.

Psychological causes: mental health problems, such as anxiety or depression, stress, guilt about enjoying sexual experiences, past sexual or emotional abuse, relationship issues.

- Do you feel is there any cause from above explanation?

- What about your menstrual history?

From first impression it looks like psychological problem (performance anxiety). But you are assured that this is not the cause. In that case I suggest check up by gynecologist and hormonal assessment (thyroid and testosterone).

For a while you can take 5- PDE inhibitor group of medicines like sildenafil or tadalafil. It is proven drug for male erectile dysfunction and some reports of success in female also. One of them should be used 2 hours prior to sex. They cause headache, stuffy nose nausea and gastric discomfort like common side effects. Proper physical check-up of cardiac system should be done by a doctor before starting the same. These are prescription medicines and you need to consult doctor/psychiatrist/sexologist for the prescription.

Hope I have answered your query, I will be happy to help further.
Regards,
Dr.Chintan Solanki.
