What Causes Sudden Poor Physical Coordination?

default
Posted on Thu, 19 Jan 2017
Question: I've recently, in the last few weeks, begun to drop things, run into things, and fall. Although I am klutz, even my husband has made a statement about what might be going on with this stuff.

Brief Answer:
More information is necessary.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

Issues you describe indicate that there is a problem with coordination and gait as well as with your attention span.

These issues may be related to brain dysfunction, so, in order to understand better your condition is necessary to get evaluated by a Neurologist about your current neurological status.

Brain dysfunction may be related also to drugs side effects and drugs you use may impair normal brain functioning.

It is necessary also to provide more information about your past medical history and the reason(s) why you use all these drugs.

Worsening of your previous condition or side effects of drugs you use should be considered.

Awaiting more information about your past medical history......

I have seen almost every kind of specialist there is. I am in XXXXXXX 3 minutes from UAB. I have never been able to sleep, even as a small child. Only one doctor's write ALL my medications and we change the sleep medicine once a year so that I do not become dependent on any one drug. I am on these drugs because I progressed from fainting to seizures. The seizures are less now but the dropping, running into things has only been in the last few weeks.

And by the way I am the managing partner in the oldest law firm in XXXXXXX my job is a little stressful - seemed like you were questioning the necessity of my drugs. Also, the doctor who writes my scripts was in the top 5% in med school. I trust him.

Brief Answer:
First step should be neurological examination.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back XXXXXXX and thanks for the additional information.

Let me clarify one thing, I have no intention to question the necessity of the drugs you use, I was asking more information.

I think that drugs you use may alter the normal functioning of your brain, so, a discussion with your Doctor is necessary to adjust the doses ( more exactly to lower the doses as much as possible ) in order to understand if these drugs and their related side effects are responsible for your symptoms or not.

Stress also may impair coordination, so it is necessary to consider it too.

I still think that the first step in understanding better your condition is a throughout neurological examination.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards.
