What Causes Soreness In The Right Shoulder?

default
Posted on Fri, 10 Jun 2016
Question: When I was about 35 I tried opening up a door by way of my right shoulder. Girlfriend problems. Bad on my part. The next day my right shoulder and arm were really soar. Could barley move it. But, after about a week the pain went away but now that I am 62 it appears the pain is slowly coming back. I still have move ability with my right arm but when it gets into a certain position it hurts a tad bit. Also when I wake up first thing in the morning it hurts but after about 2 minutes it feels better. The pain is not real bad just a tad annoying when I try to move it in certain positions. Suggestions?

Brief Answer:
Can be shoulder impingement.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
From the symptoms that you have described, it seems to be Rotator cuff tendonitis or shoulder impingement syndrome which causes irritation and inflammation of the rotator cuff and the bursa when doing any activity and hence pain. Past injury contributes to the problem.
You need to get an MRI scan done which is a more sensitive test for soft tissue and muscular injuries. An Orthopedician is the best person to be consulted.

Here are some general treatment measures which you can follow:

1) Provide complete rest and avoid overhead activities.
2) Apply cold compresses and take some anti inflammatory pain killer after consulting your doctor.

I hope this answers your query.
