What Causes Sharp Pain On Left Side Of Chest?

Question: I had a really strange episode this evening. A very sharp painin my chest on the left side that lasted probably only a second then it was gone. It freaked me out. What could this possibly be?
I'm 35, m, 5'11 185 with no history of serious health issues.

I understand your concern.After reading your query,I could conclude esophagitis due to reflux disease.Looking at your past health history and your age,there is minimal chance of getting any cardiac disease,but it is always good to go for an EKG and rule out any heart disease.

This can be diagnosed by doing a barium x ray or an endoscopy.Try taking omeprazole OTC tablet for a week to get some relief.Meanwhile follow these;

Eat small meals ,instead of 2-3 big meals
After you eat, wait 2 to 3 hours before you lie down
Avoid acidic food,spicy food,chocolate,alcohol and smoking,
Loose weight if you are overweight.
