Posted on Tue, 20 Jun 2017
Question: Severe pain in lower abdomen after eating. Spreads around to my left kidney area also and pulls on my left kidney area when I urinate. I am waiting for an outpatient with Urology as A&E think it may be a kidney stone.

The pain in worse today should I worry. I have shooting pains from my abdo into my left chest.

Brief Answer:
as explained in details.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history well and understood your concerns.
Severe pain in the lower abdomen can be due to intestinal pathology, the pain being caused as a reflex phenomenon as you take the food, the body and gastrointestinal system in particular can respond by pain in the lower abdomen.
Spreading to kidney area on left can indicate coliti as a part of the same process.
But the pull on left kidney area on urination can indicate the left ureteric stone and/or kidney problem as coincidental problem.
Shooting pain from abdomen to the chest can not really be explained as per the other history you have provided, but can be due to referred pain or costochondritis.
I would advise you the following in such a situation: EKG must be done to rule out any cardiac problem.
Let us see what the clinical evaluation by the Doctor you are waiting for and which investigations has he ordered for.

Please give feedback so that we can discuss further.
