Question: My child aged 4y and 8 m, weighing 15 kgs is having itching around the anal region. Can it be because of worms? If yes, can you please suggest a deworming medicine. Can I give Bentex (single dose of 10 ml after meal). What should be the frequency that this can be repeated?

Brief Answer:
Yes, it can be due to worms, give Bendex

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for asking on this platform

The most common cause of perianal itching in children is worm infestation.
Bendex contains albendazole a deworming agent 400 mg in each 10 ml. The dose for this age is 400 mg that is 10 ml of Bendex.
For better absorption it should be given after meal at bed time.
You may give 10 ml of Bendex once at bed time after meal and repeat the same dose after 15 days.
The success rate of treatment is more than 90%.
Also trim the nails of child and maintain proper hygiene as this may cause reinfection.

I hope this helps.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Regards
