What Causes Severe Fatigue While On Gamma Globulin Infusion For CLL?

Posted on Mon, 25 Apr 2016
Question: My brother has CLL (since 1995) is taking Imbruvica 140mg - 3 tablets daily and gets Gamma Globulin infusions monthly. His oncologist does not routinely check his IgG levels. What are some symptoms of low levels? Recently he has complained of extreme tiredness starting a few days before his infusion is due. I'm wondering if that could indicate low levels. Thank you

Brief Answer:
Routine IgG level checking is not required.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
Your brother has CLL. There is chance of infection and immunoglobulin deficiency in CLL. So immunoglobulin supplements is given to prevent the infection.

Routine measurement of IgG is not required in all cases. It is only required in severe recurrent infection.

His tiredness is not due to low IgG level. It can be due to disease itself or may be due to anemia. So he should check his complete blood count. Don't worry about IgG level.

Hope I have answered your question. If you have any doubts then feel free to ask me. I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.
