What Causes Severe Diarrhea After Eating Meat?

default
Posted on Mon, 28 Sep 2015
Question: My husband developed a gluten sensitivity after age 55. Since then, he is also unable to process meat protein (beef, fowl - allergy to pork). Eating these products gives him severe diarrhea. Since he has had several heart attacks, his diet is further restricted as to fat. What would cause these changes, and how can he follow a balanced diet with protein (bean products cause discomfort from intestinal gas)? Could his medications be contributing to this?

Brief Answer:
Nutritional supplements

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for the query

You have asked a difficult question even doctors often debate about. Your husband's diet is restricted not only by his heart condition but also his gluten allergy. In such patients I usually ask them to take gluten free nutritional supplements like herbalife formula 1 which is gluten free nutritional supplement. It's a little high in sodium so I ask my patients to put 2 scoops instead of 3 and dilute it a little more with water, it has to be taken once a day, before the lightest meal of the day

You can go for any other nutritional supplements but make sure they are less in sodium, gluten free and has low glycemic index

I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me
