default
Posted on Wed, 16 Nov 2016
Question: I had acute pain in my left side upper back region. Whenever I take a deep breath it hurts too much. I checked by Xray & ECG but my doctor doesn't found any abnormality. Could it be something related to my abdominal area?

Brief Answer:
As discussed below.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query, albeit short and specific.
Noted your history and understood the concerns.
Pain in upper left back which increases on deep breathing with normal ECG and X-ray can be due to local cause like inflamed or fractured ribs or muscular inflammation.
I would advise you the following:
Consult your Doctor again and discuss about these pints and request for local examination, to see whether the pain increases on local pressure.
Hence usually not related to abdominal problem as you have asked for.
Only Conttrst enhanced CT Scan or MRI of the chest and focused on the painful area can find the exact cause.
Until then take anti-inflammatory medicine with painkiller property.
Rest.
Avoid any movement or work that increases strain on painful area.
You may request for skin strapping or corset to limit local rib movement.

I hope, this answer helps you.
