Question: I recently had surgery and afterwards developed a UTI which went systemic and was near fatal. Could this be the result of missing 2-3 days doses of Flomax?

Brief Answer:
if there was urinary retention

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

If you experienced increased urinary retention as a result of not using the flomax then this is a possible link but there is no other link.

IF urine is retained or not eliminated appropriately then it is likely to become infected. If this retention occurred as a result of the miss doses then it did contribute to the initial urinary tract infection but it would not be responsible for it becoming a systemic infection.

Systemic infections would be more likely if there is any of suppression of the immune system.
This occurs in childeren, older persons, diabetics, persons on any medications that suppress the immune system (Eg steroids as in asthma ).

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
