Brief Answer:
Acid Reflux/GERD, waterbrash, Ambien, Mouth breathing/sensory hallucination

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. The most likely cause for your symptoms is Acid Reflux.

2. Medications such as Ambien (Zolpidem) will lead to worsening of any GERD (Gastro-Esophageal Reflux Disease) and Acid Reflux. 'Waterbrash' is a large reflux which may happen due to excessive relaxation.

3. Two other causes that may also be involved is mouth breathing (dry mouth) and a sensory hallucination, both of these being made worse by the prolonged use of Ambien.

4. Discuss these issues with your physician as Ambien should not be abruptly discontinued. It should be tapered off to avoid withdrawal symptoms. Anti-reflux medication and a Sleep Study (PolySomnoGram) will help. A throat examination and endoscopy is recommended.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards.
