What Causes Redness Of Eye?

Question: I woke up this mornig and my eye was red, and looks infected. Im a new mom of a 3 week old, so i dont have time to go the doctor right now. Does this look like something i should be worried about? Ive never had something like this. It does not hurt. Thank you (photos attached)

I am Dr. DADAPEER K, an Ophthalmologist and I will be answering your question.

I reviewed your history and the photos attached with the question.
The photos show redness of the eye. Since there is no pain no need to be worried about it.

This can be simple hyperemia of conjunctiva or early stage of pink eye or conjunctivitis.

Please let me know if you have symptoms of watering and discharge from the eye, the presence of these symptoms confirm the diagnosis of pink eye.

You can start using antibiotic eye drops like Tobramycin eye drops one drop 3-4 times a day.
If you have symptoms of watering , discharge please let me know so that I can advice you accordingly.

Thank you i have the eye antibiotic ointment at home, could i possibly use that?
