What Causes Reddish Spots Over The Foreskin And Glans Penis?

Posted on Wed, 18 Jun 2014
Question: hi Dr. Mintz, I have had unprotected sex with my partner almost 3 weeks ago. Then last week I recognized a redness of 0.5cm diameter. Then I thought it was just an irritation and we had sex afterwards too. Now, I have 3-4 very small red, shiny spots(compared to the original one on the shaft of the penile) and it is itching. I am cleansing it with antibacterial water and puttting exoderil and fucidin on it!! I will see my urologist next week. On the other hand, the small red spots increase after the second time we had sex has worried me. do u think my initial treatment till my randevouz is valid? also what do you think can this be according to the pictures? thanks
also I have started my treatment of rivanol cleansing and fucidin and exoderil usage today.

also after I apply fucidin, i have itching feeling.

also I have been to the sauna, Turkish bath where they provide you with their cloth for bath robe!!! maybe that might not be hygenic and infected with genital fungus!!! because my partner, she is a very clean and always goes to her gynecologist.

Brief Answer:
Avoid all medications and wash with saline

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Thanks for posting your query.

I saw the pictures sent by you. They reveal multiple reddish spots over the inner aspect of foreskin, glans penis and shaft. It is nothing but an inflammatory reaction possibly due to the external application. As the inner aspects of genitals are tender than the skin of other areas, it can not withstand even for mild irritation.

I never advise my patients to wash their genitals even with soaps. Antiseptic creams, lotions, antibiotics and anti-fungal creams become sensitized for many individuals. So immediately stop all medications and soaps. Fucidin also may be allergic to few.
You just wash your genitals twice daily with plain water or with normal saline till you meet your urologist. Mild steroids with antibiotic creams may be tried with a medical supervision. Irritation and itching will be reduced with by just washing with water. You can try oral antibiotics once again with guidance of your physician.
Avoid sex till a complete healing occurs. If anything recurs after healing, your sex partner has to be examined and treated if necessary. Nothing serious.
Get well soon.

Brief Answer:
Avoid soaps and anti bcterials

Hi,
Welcome back.

External applications means anything other than ordinary water used over the skin and mucus membrane of that area, including soaps, cleansing agents, stimulants. perfumes, medications etc.

hi doc,

please mind my ignorance. i keep on asking questions regarding the issue.

however, do u reckon that the external applications my partner used has caused this? because after the second time we had intercourse I have had the other 2-3 red spots?

my urologist is away in US for a congress; therefore, i will use saline (salt-water) and avoid creams, on the other hand I have to state that I am extremly alergic and had alergic asytma as when I was a teenage. (also ceaserian at birth) Would this be a reason for the spots to?

ps: doc, by the way I sincerely thank you:_)

Brief Answer:
Applications used by partner can cause this

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome once again.

Certainly, the applications that were used by your partner had all the probabilities to cause such lesions. We cannot rule out this possibility.
Your early days asthma and cesaerian birth have nothing to do with your present problem.

Feel free to ask your questions. You can wait till your Urologist comes. But abstinence and saline wash are very important.
Have a speedy recovery.
