What Causes Red Spot Under The Penis?

default
Posted on Fri, 27 Oct 2017
Question: I am 50 years of age and noticed a red spot on the underside of my penis nearer to the tip and seems to be directly on vessel. It became red with a yellow head. After a day i was able to see a tiny hair that was partially pushed out. It has now flattened somewhat and is now a flatter redder in colour. This has happened in a space of about 2 weeks. The spot is about 4mm in diameter. It does not seem to be subsiding!

Brief Answer:
Folliculitis or milia, upload pictures

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at Healthcaremagic
I have gone through your complaints and according to me it could be either folliculitis which is inflammation of the hair follicle or a milia which is a type of epidermal cyst.
I would recommend you to upload the photographs of the affected area so that I can have a clearer picture of the condition and can guide you accordingly.
Regards
Dr Asmeet

Brief Answer:
Folliculitis, seems to be resolving, apply topical antibiotic

Detailed Answer:
I have reviewed the attached photographs and it looks like folliculitis.
It seems to be resolving in the recent picture.
Still you can apply topical antibiotic like neosporin ointment on this area twice daily for 5-7 days.
This will resolve completely.

Brief Answer:
Clinical picture of the lesion is characteristic

Detailed Answer:
The clinical picture of the lesion is characteristic.
I can appreciate a pus filled lesion and a protruding hair which is classical for folliculitis.
It is nothing serious.
You can start with the topical antibiotic.
