What Causes Recurring Chest Pain With Family History Of Heart Attack?

default
Posted on Wed, 4 Mar 2015
Question: I am getting pains in my chest on and off. My father had a heart attack at the age of 41 and I am concerned that I am going to suffer the same. I am not overweight, exercise regularly and drink very little alcohol. I have a busy job and dont always get time to eat during the day, dashing between meetings and having to meet tight deadlines.

Should I be concerned and seek medical advice, or is it simply likely to be stress related.

Brief Answer:
Could be stress related

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

I understand your concern. Since you have family history of heart attack you are scared about it.

Since you are not overweight and does exercises regularly the chances of heart attack is less. But still I insist you to visit a cardiologist to evaluate the risk of heart attack.
Get blood tests done like lipid profile and other tests like 2D echo.

Continue regular exercises and relaxation techniques
Do not take stress. Do not skip meals. Eat something between your meetings. Eat small amount of food frequently.

If you have any queries I will be happy to help you.
Thank you.
