Posted on Wed, 17 Dec 2014
Question: Hi,

I am suffering from loose motion since last 8 months. When i take medicine it stops, after few days it starts again. It is about 8 months. Now i am done with Colonoscopy as per the Doctor advices and the report says "Chronic Non-specific inflammation of Colon".

Doctor has given the medicine for 15 days in which Econorm with Rifagut 400 is there. In between i have no loose motion. After 15 days he has repeated the medicine Econorm with Hosit for another 15 days. I am taking these medicines right now. But i am not sure that the loose motion will stop after taking these medicines because before colonoscopy i have already taken Enterogermina for 20 days and when i stopped enterogermina the loose motion again starts. Please help me out from this.

NOTE: The loose motion starts since last 8 months and 8 months before i was in XXXXXXX When i have come GUJRAT 8 months before the loose motion starts. Please let me know the Solution, Reason, and future complications.

Thanks so much.

Brief Answer:
Possibility of Amoebiasis to be considered

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day

Dear Mr XXXX,

Chronic non-specific colitis could be seen in many infective colitis. Possibility of Amoebic Colitis strongly needs to be considered. Chronic carrier state of Amoebiasis could result in recurrent episodes of loos motion partially responding to Probiotics like Enterogermina and then recurring.

I would suggest the following for the further management

1. Anti-amoebicidal drug like Metronidazole to be used for 14 days
2. Continue taking probiotics as advised by you Physician
3. Avoid spicy and oily food
4. Identify food stuffs which precipitate such episodes
5. Introducing curd rice in diet will be beneficial.
6. Avoid eating outside especially at road side stalls
7. Drink purified potable water

Do get back to me if you need any further assistance, will be glad to assist you.

Take Care
