What Causes Prolonged Menstrual Bleeding?

default
Posted on Mon, 14 Dec 2015
Question: Hi!

I got my periods a week early this month and had just spotting for 4 days. Medium flow started from 5th day. I don't have any pain. Today is 7th day and I am still bleeding. Should I wait to see a doctor for 2-3 days as this could be just one off instant. When should I see a doctor if my bleeding doesn't stop. Today is 7th day with moderate flow.

Brief Answer:
You should see a gynaecologist immediately

Detailed Answer:
Hello
welcome to XXXXXXX care magic.
At the outset I would like further information for better assessment of the condition like

Your age and relevant medical history
Are you married or having kids?
Whether your periods were regular before to this
are you having any associated complaints like burning sensation in urine?
Have you taken any medicine?

Since its 7th days of bleeding so in my opinion you should see a gynaecologist immediately to establish a cause of bleeding by battery of tests or an ultrasound.

Please write back to me with these details so that I will be able to tell you more precisely.
Best wishes

I am 34 years old married and have one kid.
I never had such problem before. I was getting my periods 3-4 days before my date but they lasted also for normal 4-5 days.
This time I got my period 10 days early with very light spitting for initial 5 days and since 3 days I have medium flow. Today is 8 th day.
I am not on any medication.

Brief Answer:
You should see a gynaecologist

Detailed Answer:
Hello
welcome again and thanks for your question
Irregular periods might be related to number of reasons like
Hormonal imbalances
Infection
Stress and anxiety
Endometrial disease
and many other rare causes

Since its been 8th day today so I would advise you to consult a gynaecologist for physical examination, hormonal study and ultrasound if need be.

Meanwhile please maintain good person hygiene and have healthy and nutritious food
please be careful of excess blood loss which can lead to anaemia.

Hope this answers your question Please fell free to discuss further
Best wishes
