Brief Answer:
concern for blood clot

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question.

When we hear about one swollen ankle we are immediately concerned about a blood clot in that leg.
Risks for blood clot include older age, smoking(if any), being overweight, diabetes, hypertension, inactivity and there are some genetic predisposing factors for blood clots.

Of course there are many other things that can cause a swollen ankle including a sprain, an old injury, too much salt or a tendon injury.

Since this has been going on for two weeks it is best to see your doctor and let him/her do a detailed examination of the area. They can decide if you need to get an ultrasound to rule out a blood clot or if it is coming from something less severe.

Let me know if you have further questions.
