What Causes Pain In The Calves And Shin?

default
Posted on Mon, 20 Mar 2017
Question: Hi, I am experiencing pain (and redness, possible bruising) in my calves and shins. It began Sunday night has continued for the past 24 hours. It doesn't hurt if I'm sitting or lying down, but if I try to stand up, putting the weight on my legs makes the sores flare.

Last night, after sleeping (and getting up about 4 times to walk around), the symptoms were much less severe this morning. But after sitting all day, I have the same pain again. The pain is also something like a burning sensation, but I can't tell whether that's due to it being right next to my psoriasis on my ankles and lower legs.

Brief Answer:
acute exacerbation of psoriasis

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for posting the question.
I have gone through your attached photograph and medical history in detail.

This does not seem to be spider bites.

This is a acute exacerbation of psoriasis.

Lack of nourishment and dry skin is often responsible for such kind of severe pain.

Apply nourishing creams and consult a dermatologist as early as possible.
Do not scratch or rub the lesions.

Take anti inflammatory analgesic tablets for pain.

Steroids in low dose will help reduce the acute inflammation.

I hope the answer was useful.

Feel free to ask me any follow up queries that you may have.

Thank you.
Kind regards.
