What Causes Pain In Lower Left Side Of Head When I Laugh?
Question: Hi,
Whenever I laugh a lot, a specific part of the lower left side of my head back hurts. The same exact spot hurts all the time if there is excessive laughter. Whenever it starts to pain, I have to stop laughing and it disappears in a few seconds to a minute. What is the cause of this?

The pain in the lower left side of the back of the head after laughing can be due to a rise in intracranial pressure due to laughing. There can be decreased blood supply to the area. Inadequate fluid intake can also cause such a pain. If the pain is severe and persistent then it is best to consult a neurologist and get an MRI scan and EEG done to rule out any specific pathology in the area.

1. The pain is not excruciating and it stops as soon as I stop laughing or tone down my laughing. Its not something that happens all the time I laugh either. In light of this, would you still recommend the above scans?
2. Is this pain cause for serious concern?
3. Will it stop eventually? Or is it something that needs to be attended to with urgency?
