Brief Answer:
Claudication

Detailed Answer:
hi,

thanks for your question.

the pain you describe is called intermittant claudication.

the commonest cause is narrowing of the arteries in your legs. this can be diagnosed by examining the pulses in your legs physically, with ultrasound and by arteriography i.e. injecting XXXXXXX into the arteries in your leg that shows up on an X-ray or CT scan.

if areas of narrowing are found and thought to be responsible for your symptoms then these areas can be widened by minimally invasive techniuques or bypassed with surgery.

narrowing in the spine called spinal stenosis is less common but can cause similar symptoms. this can be diagnosed on an MRI scan of your spine. the only treatment is surgery to make more space for the nerves in your back.

I hope this answers yor question.

best wishes
