Question: I have pain in or near my esophagus that stops just below my collarbone when I take a deep breath. Could it be allergy related or something more serious?

Hello,
If you are having trouble breathing then you would need to be tested by a pulmonologist or allergist for possible asthma. If it is a pain in the area of the esophagus, then you probably need to see a gastroenterologist for an upper endoscopy to look at your esophagus.
Pain in the area of the esophagus could be from a mass or from a severe irritation to the esophagus from reflux disease.
Ask your doctor for the appropriate referral after discussing it with him or her.
