What Causes Occipital Lobe Damage?

Question: Hello, my father suffered a stroke 2 weeks ago which has affected his left side. He also has blindness in both eyes due to blood supply being cut off to his eyes and occipital lobe damage to both sides. Is it likely that the brain can regenerate itself to supply blood to the eyes and causing some vision to return following this cortical blindness?

There is a straightforward answer to the question you have asked and this applies universally-Recovery(including visual recovery in case of cortical blindness as well as incontinence) after a stroke mostly occurs,but the extent or degree of recovery and the time taken for recovery varies from person to person.Recovery may be partial to even near complete in some persons.It may take time from months upto a year.
Though old age usually hampers the recovery,but still,it varies individually.Only time will tell how much and how soon the recovery occurs.
