Numbness is in my left hand little finger only and only in the extremity. Not aware of diabetes issues -- what symptoms would indicate that as being a problem? Had a left shoulder injury 10 years ago that was resolved with physio. Workouts do not seem to be affected nor do certain activities including sports like golf or yard work. What is a "comorbidites"?

Since it is just in little finger of one hand it needs evaluation , it could be the nerve compression that is giving rise to this. A Nerve conduction velocity of both upper limbs is required to see what nerve compression is there and to rule out carpal tunnel syndrome .
You should get an HbA1c , vit B12 levels to determine diabetes and Vitamin b 12 deficiency. A thyroid assessment is also suggested.
We need to get all these tests done to see whats going on. You can discuss these with your treating doctor and see if he wants some additional tests.
Comorbidities means other disease that you are having.
