What Causes Nausea, vomiting And Stomach Upset After Taking Horse Chestnut Extract?

default
Posted on Thu, 22 May 2014
Question: I started to take Horse Chestnut Extract and every time I take it I have an upset stomach. I haven't taken it in several days and I have started to vomit almost every day/night. I also am very tired. I am 79 and had a heart attack in 2010. I am on atenolol, Mirapex, Crestor, Paxil, baby aspirin and Pantoprazole SOD DR. I started to take Horse Chestnut Extract a month ago, not every day, it upset me. It was a dermatologist suggestion for my legs, which seem to have a problem with the blood going up them, not down. What is your suggestion. I did inform my medical doctor of this pill. He never gave me his input. Not sure how he felt about it. The dermatologist was worried the redness on my legs were serious and would get ...can't remember the word...sorry. Are there other products I can take? I also put a cream she prescribed, Ammonium Lactate 12%. The acid hurts my throat when I vomit. Help with any suggestions. Thank You

Brief answer...upset stomach is a known side effect of horse chestnut extract
Detiled answer....
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
Nausea, vomiting and upset stomach is a known side effect of horse chestnut extract and hence it should be avoided by you.
You seem to be suffering from varicose veins for which this extract is used in many parts of world, however there are various other methods which can treat your varicose veins.
These treaments are varied and consist of ...
Compresion stocking, sclerotherapy, surgical removal of veins,Radiofrequency ablation etc.
You may consult a surgeon and take his advice on this issue instead of going for any herbal products as these are not scientifically proved and can cause unnecessary harm to you.
I hope it helps, however you may revert to me for any further query.
Best of luck
Thanks
