Question: I am experiencing shocking electrical pain down my legs. Prior to that, I have been experiencing low back pain and attempted to stretch to ease the pain and lost balance an fell to the floor. The electrical pains will not go away. I think it could possibly be Arachnoiditis. I am a RN and currently work in the ICU. What do y0u think?

Brief Answer:
Symptoms could be due to pinched nerve at the back.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

I am Dr Sudhir Kumar, Neurologist, and would try my best to help you.

I have noted your symptoms and most probably, they could be due to pinched nerve in the lower back, which is most often caused by bulged discs.

The diagnosis can be confirmed by an MRI of lumbo-sacral spine.

Regarding arachnoiditis, it occurs in the setting of infection such as meningitis, spinal anaesthesia or trauma. In the absence of these, the diagnosis of arachnoiditis is unlikely.

I hope my answer helps. Please get back if you have any follow up queries or if you require any additional information.

Wishing you good health,
