Posted on Fri, 21 Oct 2016
Question: I am getting itchy red bumps that are slowly appearing on my body. A few on arm, leg, one on back. Every day one or two more appear. Not unbearably itchy.

These are the bumps that are showing up slowly.

Brief Answer:
Lichen urticatus most probably

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome to HCM

I read history and saw the photos. After that I could conclude that probably you may be having skin disease called lichen urticatus. It is also called papular urticaria. You seem to have erythematous papular and plaque lesions at various parts of the body. There may be mild to severe itching. Sometimes..burning sensation may also be there.

Papular urticaria is characterized by large numbers of itchy erythematous papules or plaques that come and go every few days over a period of a month or so. The lesions may develop into fluid-filled blisters (bullae). This condition is usually precipitated by allergic reactions to insect bites, sensitivity to drugs, or other environmental factors.

You consult the dermatologist and have perfect diagnosis after thorough examination and investigations.

I would suggest...

- steroids in tapering doses
- antihistaminics like levocetirizine
- calamine lotion to apply on lesions
- avoid or treat triggering factors
- avoid soap at bath

Above tips might help to manage your skin problem, but the dermatologist should be consulted always.

I hope you got my answer.

Thanks.
