What Causes Itching In Eyes?

default
Posted on Wed, 19 Nov 2014
Question: From past one week, I have random irritation in the eye. It itches often but not always. Mostly its in the morning or at night. Whenever it itches, the eye becomes red and watery. Also the itching happens mostly at the corner of the eye, near the nose.
Is there any drop I can use to avoid the itching and redness.

Brief Answer:
These symptoms indicate eye allergy.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to Health care magic.

I am Dr. DADAPEER K, an Ophthalmologist and I answer health problems related to eye.

I reviewed your history. It seems from the history that you are having irritation, itching, redness and watering of eyes from one week.
These symptoms indicate allergic conjunctivitis.
In my clinic I treat patients with these symptoms with anti-allergic eye drops like olopatadine and artificial tears eye drops.
Along with medical treatment avoiding exposure to dust, smoke.... which increase irritation should be avoided.
This condition usually takes 5-7 days for complete relief.

Hope the information is helpful to you.
Do write back to me for further questions.

Wishing you good health
