Question: I am experiencing itchy, pinching, biting sensation on the skin, but no rash. I have seasonal allergies and take allegra, which helps with post nasal drop, but not this pinching, biting sensation on the skin. this has been going on for about 3 weeks, I went to a urgent about two weeks ago, she prescribed medoral, but didn't help, have tried over the counter antihistimes: zytec, claritin, Allegra, zantac, bendaryl, no thing is helping with this problem. I can't tolerate it anymore. please advice me

Brief Answer:
Get done vitamin b12 level and thyroid function test.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your concern.
Itching, pinching and biting sensations on skin can be seen in thyroid problems and vitamin b 12 deficiency.
So better to get done
1. Thyroid function test
2. Serum vitamin b12 level.
If deficiency then you need supplements.
Skin dryness is another cause. If dryness is present than better to apply moisturizer and keep your skin moist.
Topical steroid containing cream are more useful than medrol (oral steroid). You can try it also.
Sometimes skin infection like scabies can also cause similar symptoms.
So consult your doctor and discuss all these possible causes. First diagnose yourself and then start appropriate treatment.
Hope I have solved your query.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health. Thanks.
